Include With Your Letter Home

Welcome to the Letters Home community

Letters Home is about whatever home means to you. It’s a place to share memories and explore what we’ve left behind. The place you’ll never forget, or the place you’re trying to remember. It’s where the past connects with the present.

You have received the enclosed letter and photo because someone has a story to share about this particular address. We are inviting you to reply to this letter and tell your side of the story. You could provide updates on the house, your memories in the home or how you felt receiving this letter. All of these stories will be shared and viewed online at: www.lettershome.ca.

How Letters Home works?

You receive a letter and photo from a former occupant of your current address. Visit www.lettershome.ca to see how the site works and read postings. Please read and, if desired, comment on other postings.

Find a current photo (if your photo is of the olde thyme print variety, please provide a high-res or good quality scan) and compose a letter in response.

Please reply to this letter by posting your response online. We will notify the previous occupant that they have received your letter. Sending your response via postal mail only is fine, of course.  And if you need your original photos back, include a self-addressed stamped envelope. We will post it online and then return your photos. We would like to encourage you to also visit www.lettershome.ca and participate in the Letters Home community. There are a lot of stories to share and experience.

We recommend that you don’t use last names or include the address of the house within the letter. We’ll need that information when you login and post but this information shouldn’t appear online.

Register at  www.lettershome.ca, post your photo and letter in the “Respond to a Letter Home” section. You will be tagged to original post by the address (which will not appear online).

Please consider writing your own letter to a former home, residence or place of comfort. You will find information online about sending your letter.

If neither of the above appeals to you and you do not want to create a user account, you can e-mail your letter and photo to: home@lettershome.ca or mail to:

Dundas/Dovercourt Postal Outlet

PO Box 16042

Toronto, ON M6J 3W2

We will post the information for you. Please be sure to include the address as we will have to match it with the first letter. Once again, we will not post the address online.

A few important things to know and to keep in mind:

If you want to read other posts and letters, please visit: www.lettershome.ca

If you have any questions about the Letters Home Project, please contact: home@lettershome.ca.
